MADRID, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini said on Monday that he was optimistic that his side would continue to improve during pre-season.
Pellegrini's side disappointed their home fans with a 1-1 draw in the Peace Cup against Saudi side Al-Ittihad and were even booed off the pitch.
That result follows a disappointing 1-0 win against Irish team Shamrock Rovers last week.
However, with Real Madrid still in short of the 65 million euro signing Kaka, Pellegrini was confident his side will get better.
"I liked the way that we worked hard to win back the ball, especially in the first half of the game. We pressured quite well," he said, while pointing out what the team needs to improve.
"What I liked least was that we gave them two chances at the end of the game, because we had two big losses of concentration which could have cost us a goal," said the Real Madrid coach.
Pellegrini then looked forward to Kaka's debut for Real Madrid, but he added that it will not be in Tuesday's game against the team from Ecuador ?Liga de Quito.
"I don't need to say what he is going to add to our game, because he has enormous quality in the middle of the park. We are not going to change our plans and he won't play against Liga de Quito"
"He has got 10 days work ahead of him and he will make his debut in Toronto," he said, adding that there will be changes for the Quito game.
"The changes were planned in advance. I didn't want either Cristiano or Benzema to play over 60 minutes. Those who played 90 minutes won't play on Tuesday," he said.
